2013: the music (first half top 25 songs)

Something I'm learning the more I get into music is that, as you listen to more things, the more you find you like. Sure, the inverse is certainly a possibility, and chances aren't awful you'd end up listening to a fair amount of music that you just plain don't like.

Last year did a wonderful job of mitigating that fear, overwhelmingly outweighing the bad with the good. Now, in 2013, I've picked up the volume even more, and what the year has yielded to date has been far from disappointing, even with a few lackluster pick-ups. This is music that's either been released as a single or on a LP this year (in a case or two, like with Everything Everything, the single came out in 2012 and was on the LP in 2013).

So, with another six months left to go and plenty of upcoming releases - CHVRCHES, Arcade Fire, Haim, others - yet to grace our ears, here are my 25 favorite songs of 2013. I'm saving any commentary for the end of the year, so this is just the straight-up, no-bones-about-it-list, with links to each track. Enjoy!
